FAQ

The following FAQ’s refer to wedding and vow renewal ceremonies. For any funeral queries please contact me directly.

Celebrant ceremonies are free from restriction which means you can get married exactly how you want to, anytime and anywhere. We can involve family member and incorporate symbolic rituals and traditions from different cultures and religions. This means you get a perfectly personalised ceremony that includes all the elements you want and that really tells your story in a way that reflects you and your personality.
When it comes to registrar led ceremonies it’s a very different story. You can only get married in a licensed venue and the script is the same for every single couple. You also won’t be allowed to include any religious elements and you won’t meet your registrar until the day. For me this was the most amazing thing about having a celebrant ceremony and about becoming a celebrant myself – Imagine not knowing the person conducting the ceremony on the most important day of your life.
The advantage is registrars can perform the legal aspect and a celebrant can’t, but this shouldn’t stop you from having a celebrant. You can very easily complete the legal side by going to a registry office before your wedding and still have a celebrant on your day (see next FAQ).

At the moment celebrants can’t legally marry couples in the UK, but don’t worry, there’s a very simple solution to this. To complete the legal side, you will need to do something called giving notice, which is essentially signing a piece of paperwork to say that you intend to get married.
You can then book a basic legal ceremony at a registry office. Lots of couples do this the week before their wedding day but it can be done before or after your day. The legal part involves saying a couple of sentences and signing some paperwork and that’s it! This means you can save all of the special bits like exchanging rings and saying your vows for your celebrant-led ceremony with all of your friends and family.
Did you know that it only costs around £35 to give notice and around £57 for a basic registry office ceremony (depending on where you live)?
I am more than happy to help you with both of these parts.

Absolutely! Whilst I encourage my couples to write their own vows and promises, I am always on hand for guidance. You can use something that already exists, or you can adapt something to make it your own, or you could even write your own vows – I am more than happy to book some extra one-to-one time to help you with this.  Remember it’s your day, your way.

Absolutely! As I said I am a total romantic and having had a gorgeous elopement ceremony last year myself, I do love a spontaneous and secret elopements!

I will always happily travel across the country (or abroad!), so please feel free to get in touch if your wedding is further afield.

Absolutely!! Love is love and love has no barriers. I cater for all types of ceremonies, and I look forward to helping you create the most amazing LGBTQIA+ wedding!

Of course! I love a theme! I may already have the costume or something I can adapt but if you want something in particular that I don’t already own, I’ll just add a nominal fee on to the quote to cover the cost of the outfit.

If I can get to you to meet you in person I absolutely will, and this is the ideal! It’s always great to meet ahead of the big day to get a celebrant / couple connection that will be evident on the day of the wedding. I also offer face to face chats virtually and telephone chats and will accommodate your schedule as best I can.
